Booking Tickets for 'Sex and the City 2': A Review

June 8th 2010 08:19
Unable to face seeing Sex and the City 2 without support, I made the decision some time ago that I would need to see it in Gold Class with a gaggle of gal pals. Why spend $30 on tickets to a film I know I shall hate instead of seeing it on a Tuesday night at a traditional cinema for $11 I hear you ask? The answer is simple: I will need a constant supply of alcohol.

Pushing a little buzzer and having a waiter magicked to my side with Sauvignon Blanc at the ready is precisely what I want every time the sacrilegious travesty becomes too much and I start hyperventilating in my recliner.

So, why see it at all? Why add to the overflowing coffers of unethical movie makers, stained with the blood and tears of true fans? Because I am weak, I admit it freely. I cannot bear not to see it. I am the masochist to Michael Patrick King’s sadism.

I didn't enjoy the first movie either. Loved the tv series but the movie......well, more than a disappointment.

I am sure, even with all the panning, that the second movie will get a decent audience. Fans of the show just can't resist but I think I will either give it a miss entirely or see it much later on ...on DVD.

Good take on watching it though Michaelie.

Hopefully it gets me through, Trace...

Janet, I will probably end up buying the stupid thing on DVD as well as seeing it at the cinema. I'm an idiot, I know, but I want my SATC collection to be complete even if some of it is total trash!

Mich, you sound like my sister! She's all about complete collections too (though not SATC - yet).

Will be waiting to read if it's any better with alcohol!

Rusty.

Hey Rusty,

I can't stand only having part of a collection. It gets a bit ridiculous sometimes when I end up buying a whole heap of stuff I don't want, but in the end, it makes me happy.

All I can say is... thank god for the alcohol.
