A Real Sex Movie... Or PR Doing The Dirty?

There has been much talk over the last week of a very personal new-release film starring Kristin Davis. I, for one, am very suspicious. It’s not that I doubt the woman in the video is Davis – the resemblance is too striking, even if we are not so used to seeing prudish ‘Charlotte’ in such a position – it’s the timing of it all that is giving me pause.

Just over two months until Sex and the City: The Movie premieres, and up pops this sex scandal, revolving around one of its most loved stars. Call me crazy, but I’m quite certain HBO and New Line are capable of predicting the buzz such a leak would generate – and of using it to their advantage.

Yes, it’s pretty drastic, but it’s not the first time this has happened, after all…

Yeah, who knew Miss Charlotte had it in her for this kind of raunch! I don't actually know who the man in the video is, but it definitely is interesting that Kristen Davis of all people made one, and it got leaked, especially just now...

Definitely. That's why I'm so suspicious of the timing. And the fact that it's Kristen Davis only means it's more effective - she's known as both the 'pretty' one and the 'prudish' one, so a sex tape involving her is bound to be big.

oooh it would suck to be a star - putting it mildly. I would be terrified to do anything incase it were being recorded or filmed or whatever. Even the slightest thing can be twisted now, you would hvae to have skin of steel to survive me thinks!

You are probably right about that, Ash, and yeah, you would have to have a thick hide - but that all just comes with the millions, I suppose.

I still think there is something sus about this, even if it's just that they have taken advantage of it - it has by no means slowed down New Line, and hype has only increased, as Kristen's rep's constant denials bring more and more attention to it, and remind everyone that the film is not far away...

Ok, maybe I'm too cynical.

Man everyone has a sex tape hidden somewhere. Every week there's a new an actor or an actress or singer or a game-show host or a children's program host or a politician getting caught in some random sex act. What about that F1 Boss who got busted in a wild Nazi orgy!?

Hmmm, yes I'm thinking they were trying to be clever, Lara. And yes, highly embarrassing to have something like that floating about in high circulation, but I don't think Ms Davis will fare badly as a result... not at all. I think it would be very different if it were Kim Cattrall, because her image is so different, whereas Kristin is known as a bit of a goody-goody since saying goodbye to Melrose, not to mention alcoholism!
