Richard Armitage: Beards, Harps and Hobbits
October 26th 2010 09:32
That tall drink of water, Richard Armitage, has been cast as Thorin Oakenshield, leader of the Company of Dwarves (go figure) in Peter Jackson’s upcoming adaptation of The Hobbit, prequel to The Lord of the Rings.
I’ll be the first to admit that I struggle to take JRR Tolkein’s stories as seriously as some, and my only real interest before the involvement of spunky trunks Armitage was in comparing Gollum to certain people of my acquaintance, however, that may now be a thing of the past. Anyone who fancies Big Richard must surely be open to seeing him combat goblins and wood elves, negotiate Misty Mountain and then have a good old crack at claiming Lonely Mountain…
Who would have guessed this hobbit business could be so sexy. That said, it will be a shame if New Zealand is the only one that is really f*cked, with production set to move O/S after questions from the Actors’ Equity about insufficient wages – not to mention rumours about cost cutting through the potential for more substantial tax breaks.

Everything
Considering John Rhys-Davies' Gimli, I can't picture someone as pretty as Richard Armitage being Thorin. I wonder if he'll get a fake nose too.

Apparently Richard Armitage was naked on Spooks. I missed it. My priority now is hunting that down, then I'll deal with this whole dwarf thing.
