The Stars Talk 'Sex'; Diddy Keen To Dip His Wick
March 7th 2008 08:18
The promotion of Sex and the City: The Movie has begun. We know this because the four stars have begun gushing about each other and the film and how much they love everything, darling, to every facet of the mega-media. See below snippets of interviews from Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
SJP: The movie is just so packed with stuff. And something major happens that fundamentally changes who Carrie is. She’s a new person in a lot of ways in this movie, because she finds herself at the crucible for the first time. Everything is different.
KC: It was so easy. God, it was so fabulous – and fun… I was overwhelmed, as I think all of us were.
KD: There’s an intense familiarity between us, and we are in many ways like sisters. We finish each others’ sentences and we were never separated from each other. People keep saying ‘how is it to be back together?’ But we were never separated, we just had to go back to being our characters, which was very surreal.
My fear is that there are no surprises left. People are going to pay to see it and I hope there will be something that will be a surprise.
CN: It was wild. We were back in these outfits and these heels again. And we had to re-learn how to walk down the street in unison and not teeter over on our heels, but it felt kind of great. What it felt like was a four-headed, eight-legged organism.
Miranda is still in Brooklyn, still unhappy about it, and still advancing at her job, in her firm. Her son is thriving, but her marriage – not doing so great. We are dealing with unfaithfulness, but even more than unfaithfulness, I think we are dealing with the daily grind that can take its toll on a relationship.
We are all kind of further along in our lives. But I also think two things: One is that in order to justify our coming back, and also being on the big screen, we need to have big stories. They can’t be about “I’m dating a guy and he’s got funky spunk!” That’s funny, but it’s not going to carry us through the film.
So I think the stakes are really, really high. And I also feel like the way we, the four characters deal with each other, is more mature than it was. None of us are single anymore. We’re all in our own little ‘queendoms’ and we come together again, but it’s really at a more mature level.
These interviews aren’t doing much to restore my faith in the film. The only thing I liked was Cynthia Nixon’s comment about a four-headed, eight-legged organism. And to add insult to injury, it looks like the sequels are a sure thing, with writers already working on them now that the strike is over.
Russell Crowe has stated his desire for a cameo role, and now Diddy’s in the mix. Sean Combs is apparently very keen to feature in the next Sex flick, and has been in talks with movie executives. And just to make sure he’s got the stuff, Diddy has been getting lots of advice from his ex – Jennifer Lopez. Lord help us.

Flashes of memories
ahh I still am none the wiser with this one... I really need to keep up the times.
It always looks like the cast have such a good time during filimng though... although the gals can get a little b*tchy to say the least - the blokes on Oceans are a riot.
Hopefully it will be as successful as they planned

There are some shows and movies you see, and you just think "How bloody fun would it be to be on that set". I'd love to guest star on Little Britain. Lol.
Thanks Ash!

I loved "SATC" and now that it's finished I guess I'm just a typical starved fan -- desperate for any fresh morsel the producers will throw at me.
I think I have lost my ability to think critically in this case. Sad but true.

Gaye,
I adore Ab Fab, French and Saunders are hilarious in all their endeavours, particularly Dawn French in The Vicar of Dibley (how I miss it!) And Joanna Lumley is the best. Nothing like a Brit comedy. But I do love my Sex.
Thanks!

Me too, damn it all. I don't want them to ruin it by popping out a billion money grubbing lacklustre sequels - but you just know we're all going be there with bells on the moment it hits the cinemas anyway.
Hope all's well, frauline!
