Keeping You Posted

Well, the poster is out for Sex and the City: The Movie. It’s nice, but I’m not as impressed by it as I was by The Trailer, and I’m slightly disappointed they are pushing ‘Get Carried Away’ as the official tagline – I thought they could have come up with something a bit more imaginative and not so Carrie-central.

What do you think?

In other news… Chris Noth is now Big Daddy. His girlfriend of four years, Tara Wilson, gave birth to their first child last week, a son called Orion Christopher.

Noth, 53, met Wilson when she was working in his New York City bar, The Cutting Room. Wilson plays a supporting role in Noth’s upcoming indie film, Frame of Mind.

Unimaginative, Michaelie, no not you dear, the poster. Colours are nice, but we could do with some more variety there, too. I suppose it's glitzy.

Glitzy it is, and I don't mind the pink on black, but I was really expecting something more!

Thanks katyzzz

The girl and the shadow appeal to me, otherwise, yuk, it is a bit brazen but then again isn't SEX what it's all about.

Crystal,

Yeah I like Carrie's floaty dress. It is all about Sex... and the City.

Thanks!

Michaelie do you think the movie would interest someone who has not seen the TV show? I like the poster but as I don't watch the show I'm not sure if I'd find the film enjoyable or just confusing.

A couple of people have asked me that Rose, and the truth is - I really don't know. I think you definitely could enjoy the movie - it was written by Michael Patrick King and is sure to be very sharp and fun and witty - but you would get so much more from it if you were 'involved' (Christ, can't believe the terminology I'm using) with the characters.

I'm doing an overview of the six seasons at the moment, and have done profiles on the characters, but to really appreciate how hilarious and engrossing and relatable (in an exaggerated kind of way) it is, you would have to see it. I was trying to put together the funniest quotes the other day, and I realised that they just lost their power without the gestures and expressions etc.

Sex and the City is one of those things that you can go for ages without really 'getting' and then suddenly you're hooked ... and slightly deranged with obsession! Let me know how you go, if you decide to go, or whatever - would be very interested to hear!

Thank ya!

Thanks Michaelie I'll read your overviews and character profiles. I'd definately like to get into the whole 'Sex and the City' phenomena. I'll keep you posted!

Hmm, I don't know what I think of it. I might have to sleep on it and then I'll pop back,

It's worth it, trust me.

(Talking about the phenomena here, not my overviews!)

Do keep me posted - I want to see if I can convert you!

Trace - it does require some consideration... it just doesn't hit you with a definite impression!

Sweet dreams

Michaelie

I think you're right, surely the marketing think tank behind the movie could have come up with something a little more imaginative.

I think I need to sleep on it again...I'm not making any progress with a decision..

You would think so, Kylie - I don't think it really reflects what it's all about.

Thanks

Hahaha Trace. I think I can conclude that you are fairly indifferent about it!

Hi Michaelie,

It gives me the impression that the movie is going to be more over the top than the show. I suppose it will have to, just so it has a point of distinction otherwise it's just a really long episode.

Love & stuff

Well I reckon that's true enough, Mrs M. I just hope they don't go too far. Ever since word got out that they are planning sequels I've been getting more and more uneasy about it all.

I'm still desperate to see it of course - I can't help it - but there was something very neat about a show such as this spanning six years over the turn of the millenium. Maybe that was where it should have stayed afterall...

Argh, cheer up Charlie! I'm being so pessimistic today!

Thanks Mrs M!

Hi Michaelie,

I'm just gonna wait and see what the reviews say before I decide. Can't be stuffed watching 6 years of episodes to be up with it all just so I can understand where the movie is coming from.

I may also be a bit lazy...............

Hmmm...it's pretty average isn't it? The colours and look are pretty sex I guess. I think could've done without the tagline...or maybe something like 'a sex-athon...' ...

Comment by Michaelie

January 28th 2008 06:46
Haha Lara I like it! They really didn't go to any trouble coming up with that tagline. I saw it was in the trailer but I didn't think they'd keep pushing it.

It scares me when I see them being unimaginative, even on the posters! It better not be a true reflection of the movie

Thanks!

HI Michaelie

I LOVE the poster! Never thought, that would be my response about anything 'SEX', but it is!
I am a sucker for pink bling!!

I think in its simplicity it actually says quite a lot!

Well there you go, Jo!

I do like the glitzy pink on black, but I don't like anything else about it. I don't like that it's so Carrie-central with just her on it and with the tagline - 'Carried Away'.

But maybe this will be the hook for some non-Sex-addicts...

Thanks!

Looks like a standard old book cover rather than a poster doesn't it!
Definitely too 'Carrie-centric".

Comment by Michaelie

Absolutely Melissa.

I liked it better in the trailer where they had the flash of the four women walking along the street at night. It was almost mystical and not all about Carrie!

Thanks!

Michaelie
