Two: Giving The Come Hither

The second season of Sex and the City was the season of technical change. It was during this time that Carrie’s interviews with other characters were phased out, she stopped speaking directly to the camera, and the series moved to 35mm film rather than the original 16mm.
In terms of the story, the four ladies are learning a lot about themselves. Carrie and Big’s tumultuous relationship continues on and off, but in the end Carrie discovers some things about her self-worth – she grows up a bit and recognises what she really wants; Miranda learns to ease her boundaries a bit under the influence of Steve; Charlotte gains a bit of confidence and flouts a few conventions; and Samantha realises sex isn’t everything – but it’s still very important!
Episode Thirteen: ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’

What/Who Went Down: Carrie tries to distract herself from her Big break-up by going out with the ‘New Yankee’; Miranda becomes exasperated by the girls always talking about men; Samantha laments the size of James’ penis; Charlotte goes out with man with an unsavoury habit.

What/Who Went Down: Carrie appears on the cover of New York Magazine in a horrid photo with the title ‘Single and Fabulous?’ This prompts the girls to compromise on men, so that Charlotte starts dating her handy man, Miranda calls a guy she once faked orgasms with, and Samantha dates an insincere club owner.

Episode Seventeen: ‘Four Women and a Funeral’

What/Who Went Down: After the funeral of Javier, a designer and friend, Carrie calls Big and ‘resuscitates’ their relationship; Charlotte starts seeing a man she meets at his wife’s grave; Miranda buys her own apartment; and Samantha is socially outcast after being caught with a powerful woman’s husband, but her ranking is reinstated by Leonardo DiCaprio (originally JFK Jr, but changed after his death).

What/Who Went Down: Carrie feels that she is ‘cheating’ on her friends by seeing Big again behind their backs; Miranda dates a man who insists on watching porn every time he’s with her; Charlotte starts socialising with the ‘power lesbians’ after her date cheats on her; Samantha is ‘branded’ by her gym instructor, only to find out in the steam room that she’s not the only one he left his mark on.

What/Who Went Down: Carrie starts to feel that Big still isn’t focused on her, especially after he takes a call while she is reading a poem at a acquaintance’s wedding. That acquaintance is Charlotte’s friend and Miranda’s interior decorator. Miranda inadvertently set her up with her friend, Jeremy. Charlotte has a whirlwind romance of a few hours with Jeremy’s friend, which ends after his father feels her up. Samantha sleeps with a guy at the engagement party who she then realises she had already had sex with.

What/Who Went Down: Miranda meets a bartender called Steve after being stood up by Carrie. She takes him home but later refuses to believe he wants more than just sex. Samantha meets a very wealthy man in his seventies but finds that while dating him offers many perks, they can’t make up for his saggy bum. Big lets Carrie down when he breaks plans to go out with her friends, however, when he unexpectedly turns up Carrie’s faith is restored and Miranda starts to let herself believe in a relationship with Steve.

Me too, and it definitely gets better as Miranda develops along the way. I think Carrie gets less annoying in this season too - she's not quite as clingy with Big.
There are some great eps too - I loved Evolution, and The Man, The Myth, The Viagra.

Too many eps to choose from in season two, but I really like the one where Carrie tries to leave her things at Big's, gets them kicked out, then ends up flicking her orange knickers at him and finding the photo of them in his drawer.

I enjoyed ‘Old Dogs, New Dicks’ on telly last night. Watching Miranda's control and her 'window' for cuddling Steve was interesting. I like seeing her more vulnerable.
