'Sex' Spoilers... And Sequels?

December 3rd 2007 18:49
Word on the cyber street is that Sex and the City is set to become something of a franchise. According to In Touch, script ideas for a further four or five Sex and the City movies are being thrown around, pending the end of the writers’ strike. Each of the principle cast members has a sequel option in their contract, which producers can take advantage of should the current film – presently in production – prove to be the expected massive box-office success.

I am very torn over this news. One part of me wants Sex to go on forever… the more sensible part of me knows that this is a very bad idea. I want to believe you can never have too much of a good thing – but will it still be good four films from now? I think it might be best if they leave everyone wanting more, instead of shagging Sex to death. I’m worried that they will make a series of films with minimum effort knowing scores of fans will continue to see them – and the saddest part is that I would be first in line.

Anyhoo, on to the spoiler – leave now (after voting and leaving a suitably complimentary comment) if you wish to remain unaware of emerging Sex secrets.

Last Monday, an engagement party was reportedly filmed between Carrie and Big, at Buddakan on Ninth Avenue. Sources say that this event is not a dream, as the wedding is rumoured to be, but that the couple breaks up soon after becoming affianced. I do not know what this means, whether that’s it, whether they get back together, or whether this is a deliberate ruse to get fans off track. I’m sure more news will come to light soon, but we won’t know what’s what for sure for another six tortuous months!

....oh I've missed your slick wit Michaelie!

I'm all for endless, ongoing and multiple Sex...not sure about the movies. ba-boom tish

...the producers are just taking advantage of sad SATCs' who insist on watching and rewatching episodes on Foxtel even if they do have the SATC collection and no, I don't know anyone like that...why? who's asking?

Seriously now...this will be a case of good Sex gone bad if the sequels happen.

What they should do is WebTV...an offical SATC Carrie blog...her column with video snippets of what she's writing about...something like that...

Aneewayy...I do hope you are well gorgeous. Apologies for having missed so many posts...I'm not really 'back' either...saw your New Post notification and thought I'd say hello...

Bye for now

Michaelie, I thought I'd try sex in the country for a change, might find some REAL MEN there.

Sorry Michaelie, I had to skip the spoiler bit. But I did read the part about sequels. I would have to say NO!!! Just as Seinfeld decided to call it quits, SITC should be just left alone as it ended and up to us to imagine how the characters went about for the rest of their lives. Usually, when the show goes on too long, it's because of the money and I'm just afraid keeping this show on longer will make it lose the sense of fun and freshness it had.

Dusk! Well, I'm honoured by the visit!

Good Sex gone bad - exactly. But the thing is, are we nymphos going to go "I'd rather have no Sex than have bad Sex"? I very much doubt it. Although, I don't know any people who are so addicted to Sex that they have the entire DVD collection and still watch TV reruns either, of course...

Thanks a million Dusk!

Michaelie

BTW, love your 'Carrie blog' idea too - that means SATC will have gone the whole hog: newspaper column, book, TV series, movie, blog... Now we just need the SATC album. Lol.

I'm a hillbilly at heart katyzzz, and well, I don't know that you'll find much that hasn't either sprouted in the wrong direction or gone to seed. Maybe you should sign yourself up for the next series of The Farmer Wants a Wife?

See Techno, it's people like you (not me of course) who make the producers think Sex sequels are a good idea - I'm starting to hope they regret it in the morning.

Thanks!

Yep, my thoughts exactly, Aimz. If it happens, I won't be able to say no, and that will probably wreck the Sex and the City experience.

I think if it gets to that stage they will be selling on name only and won't be too concerned about quality - just cash. So I'm just hoping they don't put it out there at all.

I'd hate to see them destroy something great for the sake of money - but that's the way of the world!

Thanks for visiting!

Helloo

As much as I'm a Sex fan, I don't think this is great...but I'm pretty sure I'd keep watching as I'm so fickle...

Tracy,

It's a sad state we find ourselves in. Let's just hope they don't push it, especially now that filming is finished on this movie!

Thank ya!

Hi Michaelie,

I love spoilers. Keep 'em coming.

SATC hasn't had it's "jump the shark" episode yet...producers better not push their luck.

Love & stuff

Hello Mrs M,

I think anything more and the shark will be well and truly jumped. They should just quit while they are ahead I think!

I can't resist the spoilers either. It's terrible, but fantastic.
