Sex and the City: The News, The Spoliers, The TRAILER!
December 7th 2007 09:03
My heart leapt higher than Carrie’s Manolos when I realised the Sex and the City trailer was out. I didn’t breathe at all for the forty-nine seconds it took to watch it. And then I hyperventilated. And that’s not all: I’ve got quotes from cast interviews and news from Michael Patrick King on just where we can expect the Glossy Posse to be at.
OK, here we go – the trailer for Sex and the City: The Movie!
Isn’t it fabulous? Of course it is. However, I’m less than impressed with leading lady Sarah Jessica Parker just now. Many of you will know of my general ambivalence toward her – I don’t particularly like her in real life, I think she knows she’ll never live up to the character she plays. She has remarked before that she hates working for TV, and will never do it again – never mind that it was a TV series which gave her fame and fortune. Now, in a recent interview, she has also revealed that she doesn’t like Carrie. According to PR Inside, she “wasn’t keen” on her most famous alter-ego, and was reluctant to strap on her heels again. “I missed the people. And I missed shooting in New York. But I didn’t miss Carrie”, the ungrateful wench said.
Esteemed stage actress Cynthia Nixon however, had a very different take on Miranda: “I did miss her… I missed the whole thing. I missed the fictional people. I missed the real people. I missed the crew and the day-to-day of shooting the series”.
Whatever the feelings between the foursome are, they are being reunited on the big screen. So now, all we need to know is – what the hell have they been up to? A recent New York Times article gives us a few of the basics.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
Despite winter rarely visiting the Sex and the City set, the movie will take place over the course of a full year – and Lord knows what the gals will get up to in that time. What we do know, is what they will be at when next we meet them, on May 30th. Charlotte will be doting on her brand new family, Miranda will still be in Brooklyn, and will not yet have made her peace with the borough, Samantha will have moved to Los Angeles, and Carrie will be working on her third book – thus the need for the assistant, played by Jennifer Hudson.
That’s it for now – more news as it happens!

Oh no problems, I'll be there with bells on. Valentino has already begged to dress me...
I'll do my best, without getting arrested. But I know I'll end up at the local cinema. Lol.

Yeah some people just don't get it - a lot of men don't. And do you know, I abhorred it until the last season showed on TV, and then one day it just all clicked and I realised... THIS IS THE GREATEST THING IN THE WORLD!
Lol.
Thanks Raven!

Lol. My thanks, lovely lady. And I think we are in the same boat: the thought of small children attached to my apron strings - I do not wear aprons - fills me with terror, and yet I simply must read your posts. You can make anything fun with the right style and humour!

You'll find them. Necessity is the mother of invention.
I think - I hope - that May 30th is the world premiere. It's the day before my birthday so I think that would be very appropriate!
Thanks!

I found when I was in England that some films were released earlier there than here...

They just showed the pilot ep of Sex on Foxtel and I am so glad that they stopped Carrie talking to the camera, that style of narration really gives me the creeps.
Just thought I would share that thought with you

In the beginning, whenever Carrie asked someone something or shared her feelings, it was then as if we were getting it straight from her column - that wouldn't have worked later with things she couldn't put in it, so I guess they worked out pretty quickly that they wouldn't be able to keep up that narration.
And you're right - it's a bit weird, and I find it somewhat distracting too.
Always glad to have a discussion with you Tracy - especially one about SATC!

That's true what you said about her showing or sharing her feelings through her column. It would've been hard to keep that style up throughout the program, which I'm grateful for, as it was too obvious a device. I prefer to learn through characters' behaviour and words. Plus, it was just plain cheesy and annoying
I just had my lunch and watched the hilarious earlier ep where Carrie farted in front of Big. It was hard to eat while snorting with laughter.
What a program and I love being able to share it with you and other Orble Sex fans,

I am staying with my family for Christmas and I just had lunch with Mum and watched The Drought too! It's one of my favourite episodes, when she covers her head and walks into the door and Big can't stop laughing, and all her neuroses come out, and the people in the next building are having marathon sex... hilarious!

I think it's one of my favourite episodes, I loved it so much. I also loved the bit where Samantha is asking blokes in yoga if they want a f**k. Hilarious.
Did you watch it with your mum? That's cool if you did. I did that last week. I must admit I was hoping that Samantha wouldn't say anything too outrageous as my mum can be a bit naive and ask me what they mean.
Aaaah, the perks of working from home

Yeah I watched it with Mum, she doesn't like it like I do, but she'll watch it and complain that they are all 'tarts'. She gets all agrieved every now and then, but she knows I take delight in her outrage! She often says risque things herself, but every now and then she'll get shocked by something, and it's very funny to see. She calls SJP a 'bandy-legged bitch'. Lol.
Ooh there are a few eps you would be glad you didn't watch with your Mum then! Gosh, I can think of quite a few that could be very awkward depending on who you are watching with!
